Mistake 1: Lack of a Treatment Procedure

The first and most basic mistake many eyelash stylists make is not having established treatment procedures. In practice, it's important to know exactly what you're doing from the initial conversation with the client.

In practice, treatment procedures include:

  • customer service from the moment they enter the salon,
  • standards for preparing the stylist's workspace,
  • atmosphere during styling,
  • step-by-step procedure – the process of performing the service should always be identical.

Lack of established procedures can result in a decrease in the quality of customer service and a lack of consistency in the false eyelash styling services provided. Procedures are also useful when you employ different stylists and want each to apply false eyelash extensions according to your established technique.

If you don't develop procedures in your salon, this will result in: longer styling times, inconsistent false eyelash styling services, and frequent client dissatisfaction.

Mistake 2: Using the wrong eyelash glue

Remember, it's a misconception that you need a different glue for each false eyelash extension. You can choose one high-quality product and work with it with each client. Of course, the wrong false eyelash glue will make your work a real pain, and after a few such styles, you'll simply be exhausted.

Additionally, the lack of good false eyelash glue in the salon can result in the false eyelashes falling off much faster than the client might expect. Avoid this mistake, and your styles will be perfect, and you won't risk damaging your salon's reputation due to the lack of durability of the false eyelashes.

Our tip: When choosing false eyelash glue, carefully check: the setting time, the cyanoacrylate concentration in the composition, and the retention period (if you're an eyelash stylist, you probably know what I mean).

Mistake 3: Improper eyelash separation

Proper eyelash separation is the foundation of any style. As a stylist, you should know how to do it right. Often, you may not even realize that your eyelashes are being applied incorrectly. When you separate and direct your lashes incorrectly, the false eyelashes may end up sticking together, which unfortunately results in a less aesthetically pleasing look.

Contrary to appearances, a basic and short step, separation, influences the results you achieve when styling false eyelashes for your clients. Proper separation during eyelash extensions is only possible if you have professional accessories, although long, straight, SLIM tweezers are best.

A proven separation technique you should use in your work is cross-lash separation (intertwining your natural and false eyelashes). Remember to also keep your hands loosely on the client's head while separating. Raising your wrists increases the risk of pricking the client's eye with tweezers.

Mistake 4: Not matching the style to the client's appearance

False eyelash styling treatments often involve clients believing they know best what will look best on them. Of course, it's not worth insisting at all costs, but as an experienced stylist, you should ensure you guide clients in the right direction.

It often happens that a stylist's lack of response regarding the type of false eyelash styling results in client dissatisfaction. You can avoid this easily. During the first meeting, take a look at the appearance of the woman interested in false eyelash extensions and discuss her needs. This will make it easier to determine which style will guarantee perfect results.

Mistake 5: Working Too Fast

As a stylist, you should work on your work pace. The shorter the time you spend styling false eyelashes, the more you earn or simply the more free time you have for yourself. However, remember not to strive for the fastest possible work pace at all costs. This will come at the expense of the quality of your services.

If you feel that the quality of your work isn't perfect – SLOW DOWN! You're not competing, and in our industry, client satisfaction is paramount. Develop your treatment procedures, implement registration control for styling treatments, and learn to work in cycles. This way, you'll optimize your work pace without compromising the quality of your services.
