Many women choose professional makeup artist services before important events. Sometimes makeup artists don't want to apply makeup for special occasions when their clients have already had false eyelashes applied. Why? Should you refuse to apply makeup to clients if they plan to see a makeup artist? Do false eyelashes need to be removed before the application? We'll discuss this in this article!

Applying false eyelashes – yes or no?

When deciding to apply false eyelashes, your clients should know that they shouldn't apply mascara or cosmetics that could weigh down the style. False eyelashes are applied primarily so that a woman can leave the house faster in the morning without additional makeup.

Nevertheless, why shouldn't you apply false eyelashes? This is due to safety and durability issues. Constantly applying mascara to the lashes, for example, can cause them to fall out more quickly.

Why? Let's assume a client applies mascara to her false lashes every day and then wipes the applied mascara off them in the evening. Even if she uses a safe micellar water, rubbing the false lashes so frequently can lead to the lashes losing their durability.

Can professional makeup be applied by a makeup artist with false lashes?

There are no contraindications to such actions. However, when styling for a special occasion, such as a wedding, it's worth choosing a false lash style that matches the makeup applied by the makeup artist.

There are several options for creating a perfect harmony between false lashes and makeup.

  1. Communication between the makeup artist and the lash stylist. This is a good solution if the client is to be 100% satisfied with the services provided. This will allow the people responsible for the client's wedding look to work without interfering with each other. For example, the eyelash stylist will create softer false lashes so the makeup artist can apply more powder and eyeliner.
  2. Alternatively, the client can set their own preferences. Then, as the eyelash stylist, you style according to the agreed needs, and the makeup artist will have to adapt to the client's existing eye appearance.

False eyelashes and makeup don't have to be a fire and water. A good makeup artist should know which areas of the eye to avoid so as not to smudge or weigh down the false eyelashes. Otherwise, the false eyelashes could fall out for a few days after the wedding ceremony due to the excessive weight. It could also result in the makeup being too heavy when combined with the false eyelashes, which add volume to the eyes.

False eyelashes and makeup at a makeup artist's salon – do we remove them or not?

Definitely not! If a client comes to your salon for false eyelash styling and it turns out during work that the woman is going to have her makeup done for a wedding or other special occasion the next day, don't panic.

Let her know so she can discuss the fact that she has false eyelashes with her makeup artist. This way, the client will avoid unpleasant situations, such as the makeup artist threatening to cancel the service if the false eyelashes aren't removed before the makeup application.

In reality, false eyelashes are not a contraindication to a full makeup application for a special occasion. It's enough that the makeup artist knows how to handle their client's false eyelashes.

How do you clean false eyelashes after applying makeup?

Of course, there's never a guarantee that certain substances won't get on the false eyelashes during a full makeup application by the makeup artist. During a night of partying, for example, at a wedding, it might turn out that eyeliner or powder from the eyelids will run off and get onto the extended eyelashes.

In such a situation, there's no need to panic; of course, you should inform your client about this while the styling is in progress. When makeup gets on the surface of your lashes, simply clean them properly.

A few tips to help you safely clean your false eyelashes are:

  1. First, it's a good idea to soak your makeup in micellar water and remove most of the makeup from around your eyes.
  2. Avoid cotton pads – they leave behind numerous fibers that get tangled in your false eyelashes. It's better to use a special shampoo, which will effectively remove oily residue left by makeup.
  3. Try not to over-wet your false eyelashes. Contact with water is harmless, but excessive use is never advisable, especially when removing makeup.

Also, remember not to rub the eye area or the false eyelashes too hard. This can cause irritation and problems with the durability of the style. As a rule of thumb... if false eyelashes are supposed to last 3-4 weeks, and the client starts removing heavy makeup from the area too often, the durability of the style will be reduced to even 2 weeks.
